Affordable fashion.

Looking stylist does not mean that you have to go beyond your own capacity. Capacity here means that your own ability to sustain your overall look. One does not simply to always follow the trend and continuously buying the latest item in store. Recycle is the key, even the royal such as Kate Middleton keep reusing her old attribute. Remember the movie “confession of a shopaholic”? You do not want to be the poor Rebecca Bloomwood, who have a major debt dilemma.

Knowing the secret of fashion retail house is another important aspect here, you should know when and where discount take places. What do you feel when you bought an item and the following week, the item that you bought is on the discount rack. As what the beautiful Andrea (from Hauteheel) said, Personally I have been inside fashion PR offices and that little price tag that they hang there for fashion buyers are revealing of how high some department stores mark up their goods. Of course this is natural profit and nothing new to anyone but because wholesale prices are inaccessible to normal shoppers, it is always worth waiting for sales which somewhat equalizes the base price from the retail price.”

Look at her amazing Prada shoes, she got it from the Prada outlet

Buying discounted items is not something that is shameful nor degrading your sense of style, but refers to the term of economically spending the money you have. People does not have to buy all the recent items to look stylist, in fact not everyone looks great on the latest trend. For example, I will look ridiculous on the Jeffrey Campbell boots (due to short figures, these boots looked funny on me).

I got this amazing shoes for only $20 (Original price of $100++)

Try to find the best bargain in town, look for information regarding the promotion or even the sample sale event. This will save up to 50% - 80% from the base price and this really a knock-off price, good quality with affordable price. Do not hesitate to ask your friend whether they know a thing or two about such events, or ask their opinion whether you should buy the thing that you would like to buy. However, it is not a sin to buy recent trend as long as you’d sure that it will make a great investment and you really love the item. Several things came in my mind before purchasing expensive goods, “Do I really love this bag or shoes? Will I regret buying this?” If yes, I will ask my brother or friend whether or not I should buy it and will it look good on me. In summary, you are beautiful no matter what other people told you and be yourself!

But don't look like this when you encounter discounted goods :p

Here are some mind blowing and important fact about the average "Cost of Beauty" (see the article for some interesting facts).

  4. yes, I do believe that do remain fashionable, we have to like, manage our spendings, why buy a pair of shoes for $100 when you can get them for $50 on december, right? the confessions of a shopaholic reinterpretation is just so cool, to me, affordable fashion would be recycling them, styling them onto a whole new level

  6. Excellent post! Even upscale dept store like Neiman has amazing sale from time to time.
Another thing I learned during my US years is vintage and thrift shopping! Of course, you need to wash and clean the items you bought, and you'd be amazed at the quality of the items you could find, as well as the thrill of the hunting itself. In Indonesia, it is considered uncool, I think, to wear secondhand items, when even famous Hollywood celebs wore vintage the red carpet!
